Cloud Solutions Studio
Google Cloud's studio for solution demo assets and platforms built at scale, so enterprise customers can see Google Cloud solving problems that look like their own. The work spanned industry and technical demos across priority solution areas.

Showing enterprise customers what Google Cloud can do, with demos built at scale.
Enterprise customers do not adopt new cloud technology because of a feature list. They adopt it when they can see it solving a problem that looks like their own. The Cloud Solutions Studio existed for that reason: show the power of Google Cloud through user-centric stories and demonstrations of how its priority solution areas solve real customer challenges. The hard part was scale. Sales and customer engineering teams needed demo assets and platforms across many industries and technical areas, designed and delivered at a fast pace. Industry demos needed a story that felt like a real company without naming one. The studio needed a designer who could move fast and keep the quality high.

Demo design that turned solution areas into customer stories.
As Lead UX Designer, Karim worked as a demo and platform designer in the studio, designing and delivering demos across Google Cloud's priority solution areas. Storyboards like the Cymbal Shops one shown here gave a demo its shape: a persona with a real problem, then a step-by-step path showing how the products solve it. That storyboard opens with Sari, a mother of two who has recently started working from home, and walks through five steps. Stories could run on Cymbal, Google Cloud's fictitious holding company with its own industry sub-brands, so a demo could feel like a real company without naming one. The work spanned UX design and engineering, covering both the demo assets and the demo platforms the studio built at scale.
A go-to designer for the studio's most complex customer engagements.
The studio's job was to show the power of Google Cloud through real customer stories, and design sat at the center of delivering those demos: championing customer engagements, leading the scoping, design and delivery of demo and solution campaigns, and taking on the most complex engagements. The aim was demo assets that sellers and customer engineers could pick up and present, built on stories that looked like the customer's own business. Karim later carried demo design into Google Cloud NEXT. It is the kind of thinking we still use: start from the customer's problem, build the story on a system, and design for scale from day one.
